Wakefield City Academy selected as a
representative to raise standards in
education alongside the Prime
Wakefield City Academy have been selected as an example of good practice in education alongside David
Cameron in the 2014 Parliamentary Review. The publication, which has several versions based on key policy
areas, has the involvement of the Prime Minister, leading Cabinet ministers including George Osborne and
Nicky Morgan, and other outstanding organisations and leaders who have discussed how they've responded to
political and economic challenges as a learning tool to their peers.

Honours Award for Executive Headteacher
Alan Yellup, Wakefield City Academy's Executive Headteacher, has received an OBE for his work in raising attainment in challenging schools across the country and abroad.

Number 10 Downing Street
More recently, Alan has been invited to a reception at Number 10 Downing Street to celebrate excellence in education. The Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Education were present.
