Year 10 – will be taking the ECDL qualification which is equivalent to a GCSE grade A*-C. There are two courses currently available, Business and Enterprise Level 1/2 and Business and Communication Systems Level 2. Only level 2 has formal examinations of which 2 are written and one is a controlled practical, preparations for these in year 11 will be the focus of the year 10 curriculum. Business and Enterprise students will start their four portfolio assessments and plan for their business idea proposals in preparation for year 11.
Year 11 will continue to discover the world of Business and Enterprise (NCFE) and the more formal qualification Business Communication Systems (AQA). Each course is GCSE standard and are available at Level 1 and level 2. Business and Enterprise level 1 comprises of 4 units which will be completed in a portfolio with no terminal examination. AQA Business and Communication Systems comprises of 3 units of which two are examinations and one a controlled practical assessment on computer systems use. Once the BCS students have completed their two formal exams they will begin learning and practicing for their computer based practicals.
