Mission Survive Competition
Our students did a super job at the Mission Survive Competition, held at Castleford Academy. They really, really did us proud! Students had to deliver a 'Dragon's Den' style presentation pitching one way to change their community in Wakefield for the better. Our students delivered a presentation about a bike sharing/bike hire scheme. The judges credited our students for their confident flare delivering their pitch, and for the quality of their idea. They thought the concept of trying to reduce petty crime (bike theft) whilst simultaneously helping create a cleaner/less polluted atmosphere was (in their own words) "brilliant". Judges also commented upon the fierceness of the competition this year, owing to the students upping their game and repeatedly pitching innovative and creative ideas every year the competition is run! They praised the students confident presentation, delivery and creative ideas as "inspiring".
Unfortunately, we did not claim the coveted first place! We were beaten by a strong pitch from Kettlethorpe High School. Their idea was about launching an app to encouraging community cohesion. Mature as always, our students were a credit to us and were resilient and gracious in defeat. All our students received certificates for their participation.
