Remembering & Celebrating Alex
The whole academy united to stand up to cancer on Friday in memory of our former student, Alex Rose, who tragically passed away last month following a brave battle with a rare form of stomach cancer. Alex was a a big fan of rugby (Wakefield Wildcats) and football (Leeds United) and the academy remembered him by holding a non-uniform day and flooding it with sporting shirts, just like Alex often did. Teams from across the rugby and football divide were represented from Manchester to Melbourne and Barcelona to Brazil. In total, £425 was raised for CLIC Sargent for young people battling cancer. In addition, the academy has dedicated a new award in Alex’s memory, to be awarded yearly for the student who follows most in Alex’s dedicated, but understated footsteps.
