At Wakefield City Academy we believe that every student matters and aim to personalise the curriculum to meet all students' needs.  The curriculum is bespoke to students’ needs.  The integration of vocational and academic subjects make sure levels of attainment are rising, including in the two core subjects of English and mathematics, providing each student with more opportunities at the end of Year 11.

 KS3 – Year 7 - Features

 A broad range of subjects, English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, French, Drama, Music, Art, Computing, PE, Design and Technology

  • Students are placed in teaching groups according to ability on entry but changes are made if and when students progress
  • A period of literacy
  • Some students have additional periods of core skills to develop literacy and numeracy

 KS3 – Year 8 – Key Features

 A broad range of subjects English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, RE, French, Urdu, Drama, Art, Computing, PE and Design and Technology

 KS3 – Year 9 – Features

 A broad range of subjects: English, Maths, Science, French, Urdu, Computing, PE, RE

  • Mini options to start developing skills for GCSE where students choose:
    • 2 from History, Geography and Computing
    • 2 from Art, Music and Drama
    • 2 from Graphics, Product Design, Textiles, Food

 KS4 – Year 10 and 11 – Features

 Students follow core subjects in English, Maths, Science, PE

  • Students choose 2 Ebac subjects – French, Urdu, History, Geography, Computing
  • Students choose from RE, ICT, Music, Drama, Graphics, Food, Textiles, Product Design, Young Firefighters, Construction, Hair and Beauty, Creative Media, Business Studies, Art

 In the 20 minute tutor time students follow a Trics course (Team, reflective, independent, creative) investigate careers and develop their reading skills.
